We have come to realize that the only way to have a media that truly served the people first was to become the media ourselves. Hopefully we will become your media. This group is dedicated to that and you will find news, commentary, music, and resources that the mainstream corporate media refuse to give airplay. We all need to take it up a notch and take our country back!

Kathy answers Brian

Our #1 priority is to make the Republicans the minority party in Congress. After we achieve that goal we can get back to what we Democrats do best...bickering amongst ourselves. Seriously, after the Republicans are defeated we can focus on making our party better by working toward its return to traditional Democratic values. Go ahead...call me a pragmatist, but if we split off from the Democrats we ensure the radical right neo-con religious fundamentalists free reign of our country.
I admire Paul Hackett as well and I am pledging a generous contribution to his campaign if he will agree to run for the House of Representatives in his district in Ohio. We need Paul in the House of Representatives, as that is the governing body that will initiate impeachment proceedings against Pres. Bush as soon as the Democrats have the majority. Paul has a great chance of winning that seat. He came within 4 percentage points in the last special election and in the meantime his opponent has made hateful remarks about Rep. John Murtha. This should guarantee her defeat in Nov. 2006.
Rep. Sherrod Brown will win that Senate seat in Ohio for the Democrats. He is a great supporter of labor and an outspoken progressive.
Getting both Paul and Sherrod into Congress is an important step in taking our country back from the crooks and liars. I support both Paul and Sherrod and I urge everyone to do the same.

What do these two events have in common?

Thursday, February 9
Nerve Gas Scare at Senate Office Building

Friday, February 10
Compromise Reached on Patriot Act

Thursday, February 9, 2006; Posted: 3:49 a.m. EST
WASHINGTON - Nerve Gas Scare
A Senate office building in Washington was evacuated last night amid fears that a nerve agent had been released inside. At least nine senators were among 200 people herded into a Capitol parking garage Wednesday night after a security sensor indicated the presence of a nerve agent in their office building. Later tests proved negative.Initial tests on the Russell Office building proved positive but two follow-up tests showed no agent was present. The all-clear was finally given at 2.40am GMT.
Investigators wearing special protection suits went into the building, part of the congressional complex that includes the Capitol building.
Two senators, Christopher Dodd, a Democrat from Connecticut, and Chuck Hagel, a Republican from Nebraska, were quarantined.

THE NEXT DAY

GOP accepts Patriot Act compromise
Posted Friday Feb.10,2006 3:13 PM
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, who in December led a filibuster of the bill and boasted he had "killed" the last version, supports the new compromise, a spkesman for the Nevada Democrat said.
The announcements mean the bill, which extends the USA Patriot Act while adding a few new checks, is likely to clear final legislative hurdles and be sent to President Bush for his signature.
The Republicans who had defied the president's wishes on the Patriot Act last December were Craig, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Chuck Hagel of Nebraska.
The House Republicans met with Mr. Bush for nearly two hours yesterday, most of it behind closed doors, to talk about their agenda and strategy going into November's congressional election.

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?

The Senate and House have had their share of "scares" in the recent past. Small planes approaching, mysterious substances, remember the anthrax? And we never find out what is behind them, who is responsible?
Chuck Hagel and four other Republicans opposed the extension of the Patriot Act. The day before a "compromise" is announced Chuck Hagel is quaratined and other Senators are forced out of their offices.
It makes you wonder what it's like to be in Congress these days living under the Bush Administration. Fear is not just for the masses.

Won't Get Fooled Again.

Paul, run as an independent. It's time to realize that the Democrats can never offer us the alternative we crave. If you re-enter the race as an independent we will certainly do all we can to help and I think you will find financial support from all over America. These are desperate times and we need leaders like you, now.
Where is Howard Dean in all of this? If there's any of the pre-Democratic chairman left in him, it should come out now. Remember how Dean had everyone else running scared in 2004, (before the corporate media took care of him)? Well the stakes are certainly a lot higher now and you can bet that any alternative candidate in any race would be just what the doctor ordered. Has anyone been able to track down any comments or reactions from Dean? How can he continue to play the game when the very example of what he's been calling for, a Paul Hackett type candidate, has been politically assasinated by Dean's party? He should just just bail on the Democrats now, he'd have a lot of followers, but maybe it's too late for him and we should just start thinking for ourselves. The Republicans and Democrats do represent someone, but it's not us. The most powerful corporations invest in both parties.
If someone could convince Paul Hackett to keep running, that could be an excellent start to something. I'm not sure what, but I am sure of what it wouldn't be. Republican or Democrat.
I think both parties play us as suckers. It's a good cop, bad cop thing. They both represent the same thing. It's just a difference in style.
If we want represention then we need to vote are friends and neighbors into office.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
Let's not get fooled again.
