Top Secret Lethal Bacteria produced in MD.

A new building is going up near Washington at Fort Detrick in Maryland. However, there will not be a lot of public fanfare when the final nail has been pounded even though the total cost has been reported to be somewhere around $128 Million. It will please you to know that all of us will be much safer due to the activities scheduled to take place inside this building and we can all breathe a little easier knowing it is all being done under the guidance of Michael Chertoff, the man who leads the team at our very own Department of Homeland Security.

This is all supposed to be very secretive and I probably shouldn’t be telling you anything more about it, but what the heck? I’m going to anyway. After all I’m sure Homeland Security would want you to know the steps they are taking to keep us safe from those horrible terrorists who attack sovereign countries killing innocent people without feeling any kind of remorse. How could anyone be that evil?

Okay, are you ready? Drumroll, please...Our brand spanking new building will house the new National Biodefence Analysis and Countermeasures Center or NBACC for short. We will be producing and stockpiling some of the worlds most lethal bacteria and viruses. The whole project will enable scientists to simulate biological terrorists attacks in top secret. The entire area will be heavily guarded and all those nasty germs will be kept inside hermetically sealed chambers.

So see? We don’t have to worry about a thing thanks to our leaders and the Department of Homeland Security. After all, we are the United States of America and protected by professionals who know exactly what needs to be done to ensure our safety(and fatten their wallets). You don’t just have to take my word for it. Even the director of homeland security research and development, Maureen McCarthy said so. She recently shared this with a reporter, “Our job is to ensure that the civilian population of the country is protected, and that we know what the threats are."

Oh yeah, don’t be concerned about the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention of 1972. Just because we agreed not to “ develop, produce, stockpile, or otherwise acquire or retain” biological weapons doesn’t mean it is still binding. After all that was a long time ago before our country was brutally attacked by terrorists. Besides, it was signed by that crook, Nixon, and we all know what happened to him. The rest of the world will understand why we must break this agreement just like all the others and I’m sure it will be a slam-dunk for our Attorney General, Gonzales, to find excuses to get us out of this one also.

I don’t know about you, but I think, so what. We might have made that agreement with the rest of the world but what have they done for us lately? Do they think we have already forgotten that most of them would not help us in our fight against terror in Iraq? They just don’t seem to be listening to us anymore. I wonder why. Any ideas? Meg
