Wolfie Advising on Arms Control

We can all sleep more soundly at night knowing Wolfie will now be in charge of advising our government on security and arms control. No joke…the former president of the World Bank, Paul Wolfowitz, is now chairing the State Department’s International Security Advisory Board. The headline at Yahoo reads Paul Wolfowitz named to chair advisory panel. No surprise here. Plagued by scandalous behavior, Wolfie is just one more in a long list of incompetent idiots to be given another leading role in the Bush Administration. Promoting screw ups is the name of the game for Bushco.

I love Keith!

Keith Olbermann is my hero. What a great American! For a little comic relief, watch this video "You Owe Mr. Bush An Apology". I pulled the link off the Information Clearing House website but I’m sure it could also be find at MSNBC on the website for Countdown. Meg

Kucinich Displays Lesson in Courage Again

Sadly Dennis Kucinich has pulled out of the presidential race but I'm holding off speculation about what that might say about the American voter for another day. This post is about what Kucinich did on the house floor yesterday when he once again gave members of Congress and the American people a lesson in courage by standing up and saying,

"The President and Vice President lied and 4,000 of our soldiers died. The President and Vice President lied and a million innocent Iraqis died in a war that'll cost us two trillion dollars while people here in the states are losing their jobs, their health care, their homes, their dignity. Lies are weapons of mass destruction. Lies are also an impeachable offence. Monday, January 28th is the State of the Union. We already know the State of the Union, it's a lie."

In his comments, he cited a new report released by the Center for Public Integrity which chronicles almost 1000 lies told by the administration in leading this country into war. He then went on to say,

“On that day I will introduce articles of impeachment concerning the President. If impeachment is off the table than the truth is off the table.”

The video is posted at Information Clearing House.

He was immediately forced to withdraw his words by Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL), who said,

“I will accept the gentleman’s request to withdraw his words but this clear and egregious violation of house rules needs to be fully understood by himself. Both sides here attempt to restore civility, calmness here with legitimate debate and not utter personal accusations. With that I withdraw my objection.”

What a crock of shit. The day both sides attempt to restore civility will be the day our country is saved and the way things are going, it will never happen in my lifetime. Look at the candidates currently leading the democratic nomination. Will either of them restore our constitution? Unless I am missing something, and please enlighten me if I am, I doubt either will make a difference, even if they are lucky enough to beat McCain. As for legitimate debate, the republicans don’t know the meaning. I am so angry I could just scream but it wouldn’t do any good. Nobody listens to the crying of all the people who are grieving the loss of a country. Those in power keep blocking their ears while filling their pockets with cash from our treasury as they blindly move forward on a course destined to ruin us all. Their hubris seems to hinder their ability to see reality or care about the lives of others.

Sorry about the soapbox but I am so sick of the republican crap. I wish those with power would stand together and do something. Instead they just continue to let the crimes go unpunished while the minority party calls the shots. What a bunch of wimps! The light at the end of the tunnel is getting dimmer. Meg
